Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly determined to keep Pedro Porro despite interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, with a potential transfer described as an "almost impossible mission" by Spanish media.

The 27-year-old right-back has attracted attention following Spain's 2026 World Cup triumph, but his long-term contract and reported satisfaction in London present significant obstacles to a move.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Porro remains committed to Tottenham under Roberto De Zerbi despite earlier speculation about his future.

Real Madrid and Barcelona linked with Porro

Both Spanish giants have reportedly identified Porro as a possible solution to their right-back requirements.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has used Eric García in the position, while Real Madrid boss José Mourinho has recently preferred Federico Valverde and Denzel Dumfries over Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Porro's international experience and attacking qualities make him an attractive option, particularly after his involvement in Spain's World Cup-winning campaign.

However, neither club is confirmed to have submitted an offer.

Tottenham hold strong position after new contract

Tottenham announced a new long-term contract for Porro on 14 June, securing the defender's future after another demanding season.

The agreement runs until June 2031, with an option for a further year, according to the Press Association.

Porro made 47 appearances across all competitions last season, more than any other Spurs player, and became an important figure during De Zerbi's opening weeks in charge.

Sporting director Johan Lange identified retaining the defender as a priority, underlining Tottenham's determination to build around him.

Sport also reports that Porro is happy in London and enjoys a strong relationship with De Zerbi.

Those factors would make any approach from Real Madrid or Barcelona complicated, even if either club decided to pursue a deal.

Recent Tottenham results strengthen the outlook

Tottenham's recent improvement has provided further encouragement after a difficult start to the season.

De Zerbi's side secured a 2–0 victory away to Chelsea on Saturday, with a Mike Penders own goal and Mathys Tel's late strike earning three points.

Porro entered the match in the 65th minute as Spurs recorded consecutive Premier League victories.

Although earlier reports suggested the defender could consider leaving to compete for major honours, there is currently no confirmed indication that he intends to request a transfer.
