Ajax are closing in on the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Tolu Arokodare, with the Nigerian forward expected to undergo a medical later this week as the two clubs finalise the remaining details of the deal.
The 25-year-old has emerged as Ajax's preferred target to strengthen their attack, with the Amsterdam club viewing the 1.97m striker as the ideal target man.
Ajax agree loan structure
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano first revealed that Ajax are close to reaching an agreement with Wolves over a season-long loan deal.
According to reports, the Eredivisie club have negotiated an option to buy Arokodare permanently for €22 million at the end of the loan.
Ajax will also cover the striker's full salary throughout the temporary spell.
Loan fee and bonus revealed
Further details of the agreement have since emerged.
According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Ajax will pay Wolves a £1 million loan fee.
The Premier League side could also receive an additional £500,000 bonus if Ajax qualify for European football next season, with the Conference League reportedly included in the agreement.
The structure allows Ajax to strengthen their squad immediately while delaying a decision on a permanent transfer until next summer.
Medical could take place this week
According to Voetbal International, negotiations have progressed to the stage where Ajax hope to complete Arokodare's medical examination before the end of the week.
While several formalities still need to be completed, confidence is growing that the deal will be finalised in the coming days.
The Nigeria international is expected to become one of Ajax's marquee additions ahead of the new campaign.
Dolberg heading for exit
Arokodare's imminent arrival is also expected to reshape Ajax's attacking options.
Voetbal International reports that Kasper Dolberg is now expected to leave the club after falling down the pecking order.
FC Midtjylland are among the clubs interested in signing the Danish striker, while teams from other countries are also monitoring his situation.
What's next?
Ajax are aiming to complete Tolu Arokodare's medical and finalise the loan agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers later this week. If the move is completed, attention is expected to turn towards Kasper Dolberg's departure before the transfer window closes.
