Bournemouth have been told it could take around €20 million (£17.3m) to sign Lecce defender Tiago Gabriel this summer.

The Cherries were linked with the 21-year-old last month after Sky Italia reported they had repeatedly scouted him since January. Portuguese outlet Glorioso 1904 now claims Lecce will only consider a sale if an offer around their asking price arrives.

That gives Bournemouth a clear figure as they consider whether to step up their interest.

Lecce set Tiago Gabriel asking price

The latest report focuses primarily on Benfica, who are looking at defensive options following Nicolás Otamendi’s departure.

However, Bournemouth and Juventus are also credited with interest. AC Milan had previously been linked with Gabriel but are now expected to complete a deal for Mario Gila, potentially reducing the competition.

Bournemouth’s interest is believed to be driven by sporting director Tiago Pinto. His knowledge of the Italian market has played an important role in identifying the Portuguese centre-back as a potential target.

Gabriel only joined Lecce from Estrela da Amadora for around €1.25m (£1.08m) in January 2025, meaning a €20m sale would generate a huge profit for the Serie A club.

Bournemouth now know what deal will take

The defender strengthened his reputation during an impressive season in Italy, making 39 appearances in all competitions. He featured 37 times in Serie A, scored twice and helped Lecce secure their top-flight status.

At 21, Gabriel also fits Bournemouth’s recent approach of investing in young players with significant development potential.

Lecce have built a reputation for buying emerging talent cheaply before selling at a substantial profit, particularly when Premier League interest develops.

Bournemouth have yet to make a formal offer, but the position is now clearer. If the Cherries decide to turn their long-standing interest into a serious move, an offer close to €20m appears necessary to test Lecce’s resolve.
