Daniel Farke has confirmed Leeds United are holding discussions with Sebastiaan Bornauw over his future as the defender edges closer to a move away from Elland Road.

The Belgian centre-back is expected to join Hamburg in search of regular first-team football after struggling for consistent starts during his first season in West Yorkshire.

Farke also provided updates on the futures of Joe Gelhardt and Lucas Perri, with both players also expected to leave before the transfer window closes.

Farke opens up on Bornauw future

Bornauw completed 90 minutes in Leeds' pre-season friendly against Manchester United on Wednesday, but his long-term future remains uncertain.

Farke admitted the club are considering the defender's wishes after he expressed a desire for more regular playing time.

"If a player then also has his wish and wants perhaps something different and has behaved so professional like Seb has done, then we also take it into account."

The Leeds boss also made it clear he would be happy for the Belgian to remain at the club.

"I could live very, very good if he stays."

However, he acknowledged discussions will continue over the coming days.

Gelhardt exit also progressing

Farke also confirmed Joe Gelhardt is closing in on a move away after Hull City agreed a deal worth around £4 million.

The striker was left out of Leeds' pre-season tour plans and is no longer considered part of Farke's plans.

"We have made it clear that he's not that much in our plans for the new season."

The German added that all parties are hopeful of finding the right solution before the transfer deadline.

Perri expected to leave

Goalkeeper Lucas Perri is another player expected to depart.

The Brazilian remains on course to join Torino, although his move has been delayed while he recovers from a quad injury.

Farke reiterated that Perri continues to receive his full support while remaining a Leeds player but acknowledged the situation has changed following the arrival of James Trafford.

The Leeds head coach also praised Alex Cairns after his recent performances as competition for places increases.
