Vasco fans launch Richarlison campaign as Tottenham search for late solution

Tottenham Hotspur still need to resolve Richarlison’s future, and supporters of Vasco da Gama have now launched a social media campaign urging the Brazilian club to bring him home.

The hashtag #RicharlisonNoVasco has gathered momentum in Brazil, with prominent Vasco supporter and streamer Casimiro joining the push.

“Richarlison, let me tell you something: you’re Vasco,” Casimiro said, before adding a direct message for Spurs: “Tottenham, here’s the thing: let the man go.”

The timing is significant. Richarlison has been left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad by Roberto De Zerbi and is currently training with the U21s.

Most of Richarlison’s obvious exit routes have now disappeared.

Everton and Aston Villa showed interest before the English deadline, while Trabzonspor later had bids of €15m and €20m including bonuses rejected by Tottenham.

Saudi Arabia’s transfer window has also closed, leaving Brazil as one of the few remaining markets still available. The Brazilian window closes on Friday.

Vasco are still looking for attacking reinforcement and could receive around €25.2m in financing, although that money is not simply available as a transfer budget because the club also has debts, wages and other obligations to cover.

Even so, the additional financial security could make late opportunities easier to explore.

The biggest problem is Richarlison himself.

A move back to Brazil is considered unlikely at this stage because of both his wages and his own career plans.

The 29-year-old does not currently believe this is the right moment to return home and is prepared to remain sidelined at Tottenham rather than force through a move he does not want.

Richarlison has one year remaining on his contract and could instead wait until January, when he would be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement ahead of a free transfer next summer.

That makes the Vasco campaign more emotional than concrete for now.

The idea is not completely unrealistic, however.

Vasco have previously explored Richarlison’s situation, with president Pedrinho and other officials making contact in 2025 and again discussing the player earlier this year.

There is also a genuine personal connection.

Richarlison publicly revealed in 2024 that his family supports Vasco and that he follows the club closely from England.

“My whole family support Vasco,” he said. “I watch Vasco here in the middle of the night.”

That emotional link gives supporters reason to dream, even if the financial and sporting obstacles remain substantial.

For Tottenham, the situation is increasingly uncomfortable. They are paying significant wages to a player De Zerbi does not intend to use, while Richarlison appears prepared to wait for a better opportunity.

The Brazilian transfer window remains open until Friday, so Vasco supporters will continue hoping for a dramatic late move.

However, the key obstacle is Richarlison’s own stance. Unless he changes his mind, a transfer to Brazil appears unlikely.

Tottenham therefore still face the same problem: keeping a high-earning player outside De Zerbi’s plans for several months. A loan, reduced asking price or another compromise could eventually become more attractive than carrying the situation into January.

If nothing changes, Richarlison may simply wait until the winter window and begin planning his next move on his own terms.
