Everton are maintaining contact with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential return for Richarlison, with the Brazilian reportedly keen on moving back to his former club.

The 29-year-old left Everton for Spurs in a deal worth £60m in 2022, but could now be given the opportunity to return to Merseyside four years later.

According to TEAMtalk, Everton have remained in close contact with Tottenham over Richarlison since the end of last season.

New Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is not actively pushing the forward out, but has reportedly informed him that he can find another club this summer.

Richarlison keen on Everton return

Richarlison's willingness to return could help Everton if they decide to make a formal move.

The Brazil international remains popular among supporters after his previous spell at the club and recorded 11 goals in 32 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season.

Despite that return, Spurs are prepared to consider his departure.

No Everton bid has yet been rejected, contrary to some reports. Their interest remains at the monitoring and contact stage while they assess how the remainder of their transfer window develops.

A move could also become easier if Tottenham complete their pursuit of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, who can operate both from the left and through the middle.

Beto exit could unlock Richarlison deal

Everton's existing striker situation is the main obstacle.

Thierno Barry is expected to remain after an encouraging pre-season, with Everton still confident the 23-year-old can develop further.

Beto's future is less certain. The striker has entered the final year of his contract, meaning Everton could consider selling him rather than risk losing value.

His departure would create space for Richarlison, who offers David Moyes additional flexibility by playing as either a centre-forward or left-winger.

Everton are also monitoring Chelsea striker Liam Delap, meaning Richarlison is not their only attacking option.

A reunion could additionally influence Everton's interest in former loanee Jack Grealish, with the club considered unlikely to bring both popular former players back during the same window.

Key Points

  • Everton have maintained regular contact with Tottenham over Richarlison.
  • The Brazilian is reportedly very keen on returning to Everton.
  • De Zerbi is not forcing him out but will allow him to leave.
  • Everton have not submitted a rejected bid for Richarlison.
  • A Beto departure could create room for the transfer.
  • Tottenham's pursuit of Cody Gakpo could further open the door to Richarlison's exit.

What's Next?

Everton's next move could depend heavily on Beto's future. If the striker leaves before the deadline, the club would have greater room to pursue Richarlison.

Tottenham's own transfer business will also be important. Should Spurs complete a deal for Gakpo, Richarlison's path to an exit would become clearer, leaving Everton to decide whether a reunion represents their preferred attacking move.
