Bournemouth attacker Rayan has rejected an approach from Al-Hilal and made it clear that he wants to continue his career in Europe, preferably in England.
The 19-year-old Brazilian had emerged as Al-Hilal's first-choice target to replace Malcom, but their pursuit has ended before negotiations with Bournemouth could properly develop.
According to Globo Esporte, the Saudi club made contact over a potential transfer only to discover that Rayan has no interest in moving to the Middle East at this stage of his career.
Rayan rejects Al-Hilal transfer approach
Al-Hilal's interest had been building since earlier this month, when reports in Brazil identified Rayan as the Saudi club's "plan A" to replace Malcom.
They have now acted on that interest, but Rayan's response was decisive.
The Brazilian wants to remain at Bournemouth and continue developing in European football. His preference is to stay in England, meaning a lucrative Saudi move is not currently part of his plans.
That effectively ended Al-Hilal's pursuit before they could enter serious negotiations with Bournemouth over a transfer fee.
For the Cherries, it removes the immediate threat of losing one of their most exciting young players to Saudi Arabia.
Premier League giants already watching Rayan
Rayan's determination to continue in Europe should not necessarily be interpreted as a guarantee that his long-term future lies at Bournemouth.
Interest in the teenager has grown rapidly.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with the attacker in recent months, while other major European clubs have also been credited with monitoring his development.
For now, however, Rayan appears focused on continuing his progression at Bournemouth rather than forcing another transfer.
His decision to reject Al-Hilal is particularly significant given his age. At just 19, the Brazilian clearly believes remaining in competitive European football provides the best environment for the next stage of his development.
If his performances continue attracting elite clubs, opportunities for a major European move are unlikely to disappear.
Al-Hilal turn attention to Ollie Watkins
Al-Hilal must now look elsewhere as Malcom moves closer to leaving the club.
The 29-year-old Brazilian is in advanced negotiations over an early termination of his contract, despite his current agreement running until 2027.
With their preferred replacement no longer available, Al-Hilal have reportedly turned their attention towards Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
That suggests the Saudi club are moving quickly to identify an alternative rather than attempting to change Rayan's mind.
Bournemouth can therefore concentrate on the season ahead without the immediate prospect of negotiations with Al-Hilal, although interest from major Premier League clubs means speculation surrounding Rayan is unlikely to disappear completely.

What's Next?
Rayan is expected to remain at Bournemouth after making his position on a Saudi move clear, allowing him to focus on his development in the Premier League.
The bigger question may come later if Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United or another European heavyweight turn their reported interest into a concrete offer. For now, though, Rayan has chosen sporting development in Europe over an early move to Saudi Arabia.
How long can Bournemouth keep Rayan if he continues attracting interest from the Premier League's biggest clubs? Have your say.
