Juventus are considering a move for Manchester City defender Rayan Aït-Nouri as Luciano Spalletti looks to strengthen his options on the left side before the transfer window closes.
The Italian club have already strengthened their defence with Jhon Lucumí but are continuing to search for additions capable of giving Spalletti greater depth.
A left-back is now among their priorities, and Aït-Nouri has emerged as one of the possibilities being considered in Turin.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juventus believe the 25-year-old could provide a ready-made solution, although another target currently sits ahead of him on their shortlist.
Juventus considering Aït-Nouri as alternative
Juventus' preferred option is currently Real Madrid defender Álvaro Carreras.
However, completing that deal is proving complicated, forcing the Serie A club to explore alternatives before the window closes.
That has brought Aït-Nouri into consideration.
The Manchester City defender offers different qualities to Carreras, but Juventus reportedly believe his profile would fit Spalletti's tactical plans.
His versatility is particularly attractive. Aït-Nouri is capable of operating as a conventional left-back or further forward as a wing-back, potentially giving Spalletti greater freedom to switch between a back four and a three-man defence.
Juventus see him as an athletic option who could arrive and contribute immediately.
Manchester City hold strong position
Any move will depend heavily on Manchester City's willingness to negotiate.
Aït-Nouri only arrived from Wolves last summer in a deal worth €36.8million and signed a five-year contract running until 2030.
That leaves City in a strong negotiating position.
There is currently no reported asking price, but Juventus are aware they are unlikely to secure the Algeria international cheaply.
His lengthy contract means City can demand a significant fee and reject any proposal that does not meet their valuation.
Juventus may therefore need the situation surrounding Carreras to become clearer before deciding whether to make a serious approach for Aït-Nouri.
Spalletti wants more depth at left-back
Juventus already have Andrea Cambiaso available on the left, but the club want another credible option for a demanding campaign.
They will compete domestically and in the Europa League, increasing the importance of having sufficient depth across Spalletti's squad.
Aït-Nouri's ability to cover multiple roles could make him particularly useful in that regard.
Interestingly, Cambiaso himself has previously attracted interest from Manchester City, although there is currently no suggestion that the two situations could be connected.
For now, Aït-Nouri remains an alternative rather than Juventus' leading target.
That could quickly change if their attempts to sign Carreras fail to progress, leaving the Manchester City defender as a potential late-window solution.
