Burnley’s new left-back Quilindschy Hartman has found himself under fire in the Netherlands after revisiting his acrimonious Feyenoord exit.
The 23-year-old joined Burnley this summer in a €9m move, leaving his boyhood club after falling out of favour under Robin van Persie. He made 83 senior appearances for Feyenoord but forced a transfer after claiming he had a “very bad feeling” last season.
Speaking on Vandaag Inside, Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen lashed out at Hartman’s latest comments, accusing him of playing “whiny games” with his agent.
“I’m getting tired of our friend Hartman,” Driessen said. “He came back from an injury and didn’t want to re-sign. He wasn’t at the level or in the form, and then Van Persie says: ‘Then I can’t use you in my plans.’ Now, two months later, he’s whining again. You just shouldn’t whine so much when you’re gone.”
Why Hartman Left Feyenoord
Hartman’s move to Burnley was a surprise to many in Rotterdam, given his rise through the academy and role in their Eredivisie title-winning campaign. However, his relationship with Van Persie deteriorated last season, and he made clear his desire for a Premier League switch.
Burnley, managed by Scott Parker, capitalised and secured the Dutch international as part of their rebuilding project.
Hartman’s Start at Burnley
Despite the off-field noise, Hartman has already settled into Premier League life. He’s started Burnley’s first two league fixtures and delivered steady defensive numbers.

The stats show Hartman has been a combative and reliable presence down Burnley’s left side, even if still adjusting to the intensity of English football.
Analyst Verdict
FootballPlace analyst John William says the criticism from back home won’t derail Hartman’s Premier League focus:
“Hartman was always going to face backlash in the Netherlands because of how his Feyenoord exit unfolded. But his performances at Burnley suggest he’s switched on. His tackling and recoveries show he’s handling the defensive workload in Scott Parker’s system. The noise in Holland is unlikely to affect him now.”
William added: “For Burnley, €9m for a left-back with Eredivisie pedigree and international experience is a calculated gamble — and so far, it looks a smart one.”

What’s Next
Hartman is expected to retain his place when Burnley face Manchester United this weekend, with Parker continuing to trust the young Dutchman. Off the pitch, though, his words about Feyenoord will keep drawing attention in the Netherlands.
For Burnley, the priority is ensuring Hartman focuses on adapting to the Premier League grind — rather than fuelling further headlines back home.
Do you think Hartman should stop discussing Feyenoord — or is he right to be honest about his exit?

If you search about this journey he's the least liked person in his industry. I mean Hartman has every right to defend himself and his transfer..
