Nottingham Forest are not pushing ahead with a move for AC Milan’s Yunus Musah, despite reported contact between the two clubs. While the 22-year-old USA international has been floated as an option, he is not currently a priority target for the Premier League side.
Forest remain active in the market to bolster their midfield, but according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto via Milan News, Musah ranks behind two other midfielders on their shortlist.
“For Nottingham Forest, Yunus Musah is not a priority objective at the moment,” said Matteo Moretto. “There have been contacts, but they are focusing on two other profiles first.” — Matteo Moretto
What’s Behind the Lack of Urgency?
Musah made 40 appearances for AC Milan last season but didn’t cement a key role under Stefano Pioli. His performances in Serie A were solid but unspectacular, prompting doubts about his long-term role at the San Siro.
Despite being under contract until 2028, Milan are open to offers if a suitable bid arrives. However, Forest appear cautious — possibly due to:
- The need to prioritise experience in a high-intensity midfield
- Musah’s limited goal contributions
- Budget considerations amid PSR rules
Musah Viewed as Backup Option
Forest are reportedly looking to “sink their teeth” into two other midfielders before reassessing Musah. The American remains on the radar but is viewed more as a Plan C, should other targets prove too expensive or unavailable.
What Could Change?
If Nottingham Forest miss out on their top two midfield targets, Musah may return to the table. His age, versatility, and international pedigree still make him a logical fallback. But for now, talks with Milan are not progressing.

Nothing special, right? He was a talent at Valencia but couldn't get his self into the starting 11 for Milan.
