Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have both made contact over a potential move for Fiorentina right-back Dodô, with the Serie A club prepared to sanction a summer sale.

The Brazilian defender is expected to leave Florence after contract renewal talks stalled, prompting Fiorentina to cash in while they can still command a transfer fee.

With the Italian side already signing Alex Jiménez as a replacement, Dodô's exit appears increasingly likely, and the Premier League has emerged as his most probable destination.

Premier League clubs make enquiries

According to reports in Italy, both Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have made enquiries about the 26-year-old's availability.

Fiorentina are willing to sell for between €16 million and €17 million, a figure that makes the experienced full-back an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen without committing to a major transfer fee.

Dodô is also believed to favour a move to England, adding further momentum to the Premier League interest.

Nottingham Forest could hold an advantage

Nottingham Forest may have an edge in the race for the Brazilian.

The City Ground club enjoy a strong relationship with Fiorentina following last summer's successful transfer of Nikola Milenković, something that could help negotiations if Forest decide to formalise their interest.

Dodô's attacking qualities and experience in Serie A would fit well into Forest's recruitment strategy, particularly as the club continue searching for reinforcements at right-back.

Newcastle, however, remain firmly in contention and are also assessing the defender as they evaluate options ahead of the new campaign.

Italian clubs remain a threat

Although England currently appears to be the most likely destination, a move within Serie A cannot yet be ruled out.

Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli have all explored the possibility of signing Dodô in recent months, although none have progressed to an agreement.

Inter's failed move for Anan Khalaili and Juventus' need for another right-back following Emil Holm's departure could yet see both clubs revisit their interest.

That means Nottingham Forest and Newcastle may need to move quickly if they are serious about completing a deal.

Key Points

What's next?

Dodô is expected to leave Fiorentina this summer, with the Italian club already planning for life without him. Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United will now decide whether to follow up their enquiries with formal offers, although they may face renewed competition from Serie A clubs if negotiations are delayed.

Would Dodô be a better signing for Nottingham Forest or Newcastle United if he makes the move to the Premier League?
