Nottingham Forest target Dodo facing uncertain Fiorentina future

Nottingham Forest tried to sign Fiorentina defender Dodo during the summer transfer window, and the Brazilian’s future in Italy remains uncertain after the move failed to materialise.

Forest made an offer for the right-back, who was reportedly open to the Premier League switch, but Fiorentina rejected the proposal while waiting for a better bid.

That never arrived, and Oliver Glasner’s side eventually moved elsewhere by signing Daniel Munoz.

Dodo remained in Florence after the transfer deadline, but reports in Italy suggest his relationship with Fiorentina has deteriorated.

The 27-year-old had actively looked for a transfer and would reportedly have welcomed a move to Nottingham Forest. Several approaches arrived during the summer, but Fiorentina refused to sanction his departure.

Dodo is now attempting to move beyond the transfer saga and recently responded to speculation surrounding his situation.

“I’m fine, very good. Don’t believe everything you hear,” the defender said.

However, Dodo has also blocked several journalists on social media, while doubts remain over whether he will extend his contract.

His current deal expires in 2027, meaning Fiorentina could face an important decision in January if there is no progress over fresh terms.

If Dodo has no intention of signing a new contract, Fiorentina risk seeing his market value decrease significantly.

That could make the January transfer window an opportunity to sell rather than allowing the Brazilian to move closer to becoming a free agent in 2027.

Whether Nottingham Forest would consider returning remains questionable.

Their decision to sign Munoz means Glasner already has another established option on the right, reducing the need to revive their interest.

Dodo has been an important player for Fiorentina, particularly because of his ability to cover significant ground down the right flank.

However, questions remain about his defensive consistency and end product.

Munoz, meanwhile, already has experience working successfully under Glasner and appears naturally suited to the physical demands of Premier League football.

Forest’s failed pursuit of Dodo may therefore have ultimately worked in their favour.

Dodo’s contract situation will remain under scrutiny ahead of January. Fiorentina may have to reconsider their position if he continues to resist a renewal, although Nottingham Forest’s signing of Munoz makes a renewed approach from Glasner’s side less necessary.
