Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing a €15million January offer for Fenerbahce left-back Archie Brown, although the Turkish club are said to want twice that amount before considering a sale.
Tuesday's print edition of Turkish newspaper Sabah reports that Forest have retained their interest in the 24-year-old after previously looking at him during the summer transfer window.
Brown has two goals and one assist from 10 appearances for Fenerbahce this season, but the Turkish club reportedly have no intention of allowing him to leave cheaply midway through the campaign.
Nottingham Forest maintain Archie Brown interest
Forest's interest is not new. According to previous reports from Turkey, the Premier League club submitted a €16million offer for Brown in May, with Fenerbahce instead seeking around €18million.
Sunderland were subsequently credited with making their own approach, while Manchester United and Chelsea were also linked with the defender. The supplied reporting notes that some of those links may have been intended to generate pressure around negotiations.
No move materialised, leaving Brown at Fenerbahce for the start of the current season.
Sabah now reports that Forest are preparing to return with a €15million proposal when the January transfer window opens.
Fenerbahce reportedly want €30m for Brown
The major obstacle is Fenerbahce's valuation.
The Istanbul club are reportedly demanding €30million for Brown because they do not want to sell him during the winter window. That would leave a substantial €15million gap between Forest's planned offer and Fenerbahce's asking price.
There is currently no indication in the supplied report that Forest are prepared to meet that valuation or significantly increase their proposed bid.
Brown's contract also gives Fenerbahce negotiating leverage. His current deal runs until 2028 and includes an option for an additional year.
Why Forest could target another left-back
Forest strengthened at left-back by signing Luca Netz from Borussia Monchengladbach in February 2025, but his involvement has remained limited.
Netz played 355 minutes across seven appearances last season and has managed only 56 minutes from four matches this term, according to the supplied figures.
Neco Williams has instead been Oliver Glasner's preferred option on the left side of defence.
Brown would offer another specialist option in that position. The English defender, who previously spent time in the West Bromwich Albion and Derby County academies, has built his senior career abroad with Lausanne-Sport, KAA Gent and Fenerbahce.
He produced five goals and seven assists from 38 appearances during his first season with the Turkish club before adding three direct goal contributions in his opening 10 matches this season.
Key Points
- Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing a €15million January offer for Archie Brown.
- Fenerbahce are said to value the 24-year-old at €30million and do not want a winter sale.
- Forest were previously reported to have offered €16million for Brown in May.
- Brown has two goals and one assist from 10 appearances this season.
- His Fenerbahce contract runs until 2028 with an option for another year.
What’s Next?
The reported €15million difference between Forest's planned bid and Fenerbahce's valuation is the central obstacle to a January agreement. Unless the Turkish club lower their demands or Forest substantially increase their offer, Brown could remain in Istanbul until at least the end of the season, when his future may be reconsidered.
