AC Milan are considering a move for Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui as Ruben Amorim continues to shape his squad ahead of the new season.
The Morocco international has emerged as one of the latest names linked with the Rossoneri, with Amorim reportedly a long-time admirer of the versatile full-back.
While negotiations have not yet begun, the player is firmly on Milan's radar.
Amorim appreciates Mazraoui profile
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto revealed that Mazraoui is a player highly rated by Amorim.
Speaking on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, Moretto explained that there are currently no direct negotiations between Milan and Manchester United, but the Portuguese coach appreciates the defender's qualities.
“Negotiations are ongoing, but there are no direct contacts between the clubs,” Moretto said.
“What I can tell you is that Mazraoui is a player appreciated by Amorim. We'll see whether, as the window progresses, he becomes a concrete target for Milan.”
The 28-year-old remains under contract with Manchester United until 2028, with the club also holding an option to extend his deal.
Versatility makes defender attractive
Mazraoui's versatility is one of the biggest reasons behind Milan's interest.
Naturally a right-back, the Moroccan has regularly featured on the left for both club and country, largely due to Achraf Hakimi occupying the right flank for Morocco.
That tactical flexibility could prove valuable for Amorim, who is expected to switch Milan to a 3-4-2-1 formation.
The system would allow Alexis Saelemaekers to play further forward while Mazraoui competes for the left wing-back role alongside Athekame.
Milan continuing squad rebuild
Mazraoui fits the profile of players Milan have increasingly targeted since Amorim's appointment.
Several of the club's recent transfer links have involved players already familiar with the Portuguese coach or suited to his tactical philosophy.
However, the Rossoneri have also shown they are willing to move for players outside that group, as demonstrated by the signing of Spanish defender Mario Gila.
For now, Mazraoui remains a name being closely monitored rather than an advanced negotiation.
