Michael Zetterer's agent has firmly ruled out a move to Leeds United, just hours after reports suggested the Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper was closing in on a switch to Elland Road.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that Leeds were nearing a deal for the 31-year-old, but representative Nico Pellatzhas now dismissed those claims and insists Zetterer wants to remain in Germany.

Zetterer agent dismisses Leeds reports

German newspaper Bild contacted Pellatz following the reports in England, but the response left little room for doubt.

“We are very surprised by reports that Michael Zetterer is on the verge of a transfer,” Pellatz said. “These reports are simply untrue.”

Zetterer joined Frankfurt from Werder Bremen in August 2025 and remains under contract until 2029.

He made 29 appearances last season, keeping seven clean sheets and conceding 46 goals. Despite potentially serving as backup to Kauã Santos this season, his camp has no intention of pursuing a departure.

“Michael and his family are very happy in Frankfurt,” Pellatz added. “A move is currently out of the question for him.”

The comments effectively close the door on Leeds completing a deal under the current circumstances.

Leeds may still need another goalkeeper

Leeds' goalkeeper situation could nevertheless require further work before the transfer deadline.

Daniel Farke already has James Trafford, Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns available after Trafford arrived from Manchester City earlier this summer.

Perri, however, is expected to leave Elland Road on loan amid interest from Torino. Should that departure go through, Leeds could return to the market for another goalkeeper to provide cover.

Zetterer appeared to have emerged as an option, but his agent's public comments mean the Whites will need to consider alternatives if Perri leaves.

The German goalkeeper has previously turned down Premier League interest. West Ham explored a move before his Frankfurt switch in 2025, with Zetterer later explaining that his preference was to continue his career in Germany.

Key Points

  • Michael Zetterer's agent has ruled out a Leeds move.
  • Pellatz described reports of an imminent transfer as “simply untrue”.
  • Zetterer is happy at Frankfurt and contracted until 2029.
  • Leeds signed James Trafford earlier this summer.
  • Lucas Perri could leave for Torino on loan.

What's Next?

Leeds' next step is likely to depend on Perri's future. If the Brazilian completes his expected loan departure, Farke may need another goalkeeper before the window closes.

Zetterer, though, appears to be off the table after his representative's emphatic response.

Which goalkeeper should Leeds target if Lucas Perri leaves for Torino?
