According to Corriere dello Sport, Juventus manager Igor Tudor is keen on Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley, with Yves Bissouma also under consideration if a deal can’t be struck.

Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley has emerged as a serious transfer target for Juventus, as the Serie A giants look to rebuild their midfield this summer.

With Douglas Luiz expected to leave and Sporting Lisbon pricing Morten Hjulmand out of reach, Juve bos Igor Tudor is weighing up a move for O’Riley — who could be available for around €30 million, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Juventus sporting director Damien Comolli is said to be a firm admirer of the 23-year-old Denmark international and believes the Brighton star fits the club’s tactical needs and financial limits.

Why Juventus Want Matt O’Riley

Juventus need a new midfield presence who can control the tempo, create chances, and press with energy — all areas where O’Riley has excelled in both the Premier League and European competition with Brighton.

Tudor wants a player capable of replacing Douglas Luiz’s contribution while offering more flexibility.

“He’s calm on the ball, plays through pressure, and offers real set-piece threat — it’s no surprise Juventus are interested,” said a Serie A scout. — Corriere dello Sport

Bissouma Still an Option — But Complications Remain

While Yves Bissouma remains a cheaper option at €20 million, Juventus face a registration issue with the Tottenham midfielder. Bissouma would occupy the final non-EU squad slot, which could instead be allocated to Atletico Madrid right-back Nahuel Molina, another key target.

Unless Juve abandon the Molina pursuit, signing Bissouma becomes unlikely — making O’Riley the cleaner, more strategic choice.

Analyst Verdict

O’Riley is arguably a more complete and lower-risk signing than Hjulmand or Bissouma. His Premier League pedigree, experience in a progressive Brighton setup, and EU passport make him the perfect storm of value and versatility for Juventus.

If Comolli and Tudor can move quickly, they could secure one of the most underrated midfielders on the market — before other clubs enter the race.

Key Insights

  • Juventus are targeting Matt O'Riley as a €30m midfield signing
  • Bissouma is an alternative, but non-EU slot limits complicate that route
  • Hjulmand remains out of reach due to Sporting’s €80m release clause
  • O'Riley offers a balance of creativity, work rate, and affordability
  • Juventus must decide quickly before Brighton reassess his availability

What’s Next?

Juventus are expected to intensify contact with Brighton this week to assess O’Riley’s availability. If Sporting don’t budge on Hjulmand’s release clause and Spurs hold firm on Bissouma, the Dane could become Juve’s top summer signing — for a price that fits their budget.

Should Juventus prioritise O’Riley over Bissouma — or go all in on Hjulmand?
