Sunderland and Fulham hold talks over Roma star Matias Soulé

Sunderland and Fulham have both held discussions over a possible move for Roma attacker Matias Soulé as the Serie A club step up plans to reshape their squad this summer.

The 23-year-old's future has been uncertain for several weeks, with Roma prepared to consider offers that would generate funds for further signings.

While no formal bids have been submitted, Soulé's representatives are actively exploring potential destinations in the Premier League.

According to reports in Italy, Soulé's agent, Martin Guastadisegno, has met with both Sunderland and Fulham to discuss a potential transfer.

The Argentine is one of the players Roma are willing to sell as they look to create room for further additions under Gian Piero Gasperini.

At this stage, negotiations remain at an early stage, with neither Premier League club having made an official offer.

Roma believe selling Soulé would provide a significant financial boost.

The winger joined from Juventus in 2024, meaning any sale would generate a sizeable capital gain that could be reinvested into Gasperini's squad.

Juventus are also set to benefit from any transfer after inserting a 10 per cent sell-on clause when they sold the attacker.

A deal worth around €35 million would reportedly hand Roma a healthy profit while also triggering a payment to the Turin club.

The report claims Gasperini has not been fully convinced by Soulé's performances since taking charge.

The Roma boss is said to believe the club can improve on the versatile attacker, making him one of the leading candidates to leave before the transfer window closes.

Soulé is capable of playing across the front line and impressed during spells with Juventus, Frosinone and Roma, particularly in European competition.

Sunderland and Fulham have positioned themselves to take advantage of Soulé's uncertain future, but discussions remain at an exploratory stage. Roma appear willing to sell for the right price as they continue rebuilding under Gasperini.
