Aston Villa are preparing a move for AS Roma forward Matías Soulé, with reports suggesting a formal €32m (£27m) offer is in the works. The Argentine attacker, who impressed during stints at Frosinone and Roma, is now being lined up as Unai Emery’s next high-upside attacking project.
According to Football Fancast, Villa are hoping Soulé can replicate the trajectory of Morgan Rogers, who has become a breakout star at Villa Park under Emery’s guidance.
Soulé’s numbers reflect a growing threat in the final third: 5 goals and 5 assists last season in Serie A, with tactical maturity that complements his creativity.
What Makes Soulé a Villa-Type Signing?
Soulé perfectly fits Aston Villa’s data-driven model: technically gifted, versatile, young, and tactically coachable. At 23, he still has development ahead — but has already shown he can perform in one of Europe’s most demanding leagues.
“Villa will hope they strike gold by snapping up Soulé’s services, with the South American potentially going to be another Rogers-style star for Emery.” — Football Fancast
Villa’s interest isn’t speculative. It’s part of a long-term recruitment blueprint focused on identifying high-ceiling players just before their market explodes — exactly what they did with Rogers.
Could Roma Be Forced to Sell?
Roma’s need to raise funds due to UEFA’s financial regulations could force them to part with Soulé this summer. The €32m price tag represents value in today’s market — especially for a player entering his prime with two strong seasons behind him.
With Tottenham also interested, Villa may need to move swiftly to secure his signature.

Analyst Verdict: Villa Know Exactly What They’re Doing
Soulé may not be a household name in England — but he doesn’t need to be. Unai Emery’s track record in developing emerging talent into high-performing attackers speaks for itself.
Morgan Rogers took a season to explode, and now he’s unplayable. Soulé could follow a similar path. He’s “unpredictable” in the best possible way — difficult to mark, instinctive in transition, and flexible enough to play wide, centrally, or even behind a striker.
In a season where Villa face Europa League demands, depth and dynamism will be crucial. Soulé offers both.

He was one of the players I always used to buy in Football Manager. I mean it has nothing to do with in real life, it’s still a typical Emery player! This could be a good one for villa
