Tottenham Hotspur have approached Barcelona over a potential summer move for Marc Casadó, but the midfielder has shown little interest in leaving the Spanish giants at this stage of the transfer window.

According to Sport, Spurs were among several clubs — including Chelsea and Atlético Madrid — to show interest in the 21-year-old defensive midfielder. However, with Hansi Flick not counting on Casadó for a key role this season, Barcelona are open to letting him leave — if the price is right.

Tottenham Made an Approach – But Casadó Isn’t Pushing to Leave

Casadó made his senior Barcelona debut in March 2024 and clocked over 2,400 minutes across 36 games last season. Despite his progress, new manager Hansi Flick reportedly sees him as expendable, with a deep midfield pool already in place at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are said to be open to a sale if a tempting offer of around €30 million comes in — but for now, the player is choosing to stay and fight for his place.

Spurs Turned to Palhinha After Casadó Stance

With Casadó not pushing for an exit, Spurs quickly moved on and completed a loan deal for João Palhinha from Bayern Munich on Sunday. The Portuguese international arrives with an option to buy and is expected to slot into Ange Postecoglou’s midfield immediately.

Casadó was viewed as a long-term project, but Spurs prioritised experience after their initial interest hit a roadblock.

Analyst Verdict: Casadó’s Time at Barcelona Still Ticking?

While Casadó is currently staying put, Barcelona expect that some fringe players could reconsider their stance later in the window. If Casadó realises his playing time will be limited under Flick, the club may reignite talks with Spurs or other suitors.

Tottenham, however, are unlikely to return — unless a late opportunity opens up, and Casadó himself pushes for it.

What’s Next?

Tottenham’s interest in Marc Casadó has cooled, but Barcelona may expect movement late in the window if fringe players grow frustrated. Casadó fits the profile of clubs like Spurs, but the player will have to take the first step.

Should Tottenham have waited — or was moving for Palhinha the right call?
