Manchester United striker Benjamin Šeško remains sidelined with a persistent shin injury, with Slovenia manager Boštjan Cesar admitting he cannot predict when the 23-year-old will return.

The forward has made just six appearances this season, playing 206 minutes after struggling with a problem that first affected him during the previous campaign.

Reports suggest Šeško could remain unavailable until January 2027, although Manchester United have not confirmed a return date.

Slovenia manager provides Šeško injury update

Speaking during Slovenia's latest squad announcement, Cesar acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the striker's recovery.

"It is even harder for me to say how long Beni will be out. I am not there with him," Cesar told Planet Nogomet.

"We have all the documentation. The injury is unpleasant."

Cesar explained that Slovenia's medical staff have received information about the injury but cannot provide a definitive recovery timetable.

The national team manager hopes Šeško can return quickly and rediscover the form he demonstrated before his fitness problems.

Manchester United striker faces extended absence

Šeško has not featured for Manchester United since their Carabao Cup defeat against Brighton on 16 September.

His last Premier League appearance came three days earlier in the 1-0 defeat against Manchester City.

The striker subsequently missed domestic and Champions League fixtures as United continued to assess his condition.

Šeško had already experienced shin problems towards the end of last season, which also disrupted his summer preparations.

Reports in England suggest he could remain sidelined until at least January, although the club has not established a public recovery deadline.

Michael Carrick faces attacking concerns

Šeško's absence presents another challenge for United manager Michael Carrick, whose side have struggled for consistency this season.

The Slovenian has scored twice in six appearances across all competitions, highlighting the attacking contribution United are missing.

Carrick has acknowledged that the injury requires a longer recovery period than initially hoped.

Šeško will also miss Slovenia's upcoming Nations League fixtures against Switzerland and North Macedonia.
