Liverpool remain interested in Porto winger William Gomes despite the Brazilian signing a new contract that includes a €100million release clause.
The 20-year-old has extended his agreement with the Portuguese champions until 2031, but reports suggest Liverpool are continuing to monitor his development.
Porto president André Villas-Boas has also acknowledged interest from several clubs while explaining why the club moved to secure the youngster's future.
Liverpool continue tracking Porto winger
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Liverpool still regard Gomes as a potential transfer target despite strengthening their attack with Bradley Barcola.
The Reds were linked with the Brazilian towards the end of the summer transfer window, although there was no evidence of formal negotiations.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United have also been linked with the winger, while Atlético Madrid have reportedly shown interest.
Porto's latest contract agreement has increased Gomes' release clause from €80million to €100million, significantly strengthening their negotiating position.
The winger has started the new campaign with two goals and two assists in nine appearances.
Villas-Boas explains new Porto contract
Speaking about the renewal, Villas-Boas confirmed that Porto were aware of the attention surrounding Gomes.
“We’re happy with William’s progress, which is why we wanted to reward him. He’s attracted interest from many clubs, and we haven’t ignored that, but his commitment to Porto has been total,” he said.
The former Chelsea and Tottenham manager also praised the Brazilian's defensive work and commitment alongside his attacking contributions.
Porto head coach Francesco Farioli supported the decision to improve Gomes' contract following his role in last season's Portuguese league title success.
Villas-Boas revealed that negotiations progressed quickly because the player also wanted to remain at the club.
That commitment represents a potential obstacle for Liverpool, who would now face a substantially higher release clause if they pursued a deal.
For the moment, their interest appears to remain at the monitoring stage.
