Liverpool are preparing a fresh bid for Alexander Isak after Newcastle rejected an opening offer worth £110m. The sale of Luis Diaz, Tyler Morton, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa will help fund a second approach.
Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit of Alexander Isak, with Arne Slot refusing to back down in his push to bring the Newcastle United striker to Anfield.
The Reds had a £110 million bid rejected earlier this week, but multiple reports now suggest that a second, improved offer is being readied.
According to Sky Sports News’ Keith Downie, Liverpool are expected to return with a fresh proposal for the Sweden international as early as next week. Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that the club “plan to bid again” for Isak.
Liverpool Sales to Fund Record Deal
Liverpool are generating significant funds by offloading players:
- Luis Diaz has joined Bayern Munich for €75m
- Tyler Morton is in advanced talks to join Lyon
- Darwin Nunez is close to a move to Al Hilal
- Federico Chiesa is attracting offers from Serie A, with Atalanta ready to act if Ademola Lookman is sold
These four moves could bring in close to £200m, enough to match Newcastle’s £150m valuation of Isak.
Howe Responds to Liverpool’s Isak Push
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe confirmed the approach during a press conference, but insisted the club rejected the bid without hesitation:
“I was made aware of a bid yesterday and that bid was turned down, all before I’d even heard about it. People back in England are dealing with the situation. I don’t know what happens next. From our perspective, we still support Alex in every way and my wish is that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again.” — Eddie Howe
While Newcastle won’t sell without a replacement, reports say Isak has told the club he wants to join Liverpool.

Analyst Verdict
If completed, this would be a Premier League-record signing — and a defining statement from Arne Slot.
Isak is everything Slot looks for in a No.9: mobile, intelligent in build-up, and lethal in transition. He’s also Premier League-proven, which makes him a much safer bet than many alternatives abroad.
Replacing Darwin Nunez with a more composed and technically complete forward like Isak reflects the tactical shift underway at Liverpool.
Key Takeaways
- Liverpool to submit second bid for Isak, possibly next week
- Initial £110m package was rejected by Newcastle
- Luis Diaz, Morton, Nunez, and Chiesa sales will fund new approach
- Eddie Howe says Isak is fully supported, but future unclear
- Slot is pushing hard to land the Swedish striker
What’s Next for Liverpool and Isak?
Liverpool are expected to submit their second bid for Alexander Isak in the next few days, with talks between the clubs ongoing behind the scenes. Newcastle continue to stand firm but privately acknowledge that every player has a price — especially if a suitable replacement is secured in time.
With pre-season wrapping up and the Premier League kicking off soon, both sides want clarity. A swift resolution could come as early as next week, with Isak pushing from his side to make the move to Anfield happen.
All eyes now turn to Liverpool’s next move — and whether Newcastle will finally crack under pressure.
Should Liverpool go all-in for Isak — or reinvest the money elsewhere?

Feel sorry for Darwin, this guy is clearly better than Etikite - all good they'll regret this sale even though adding Isak to their squad. I wouldn't have bought Etikite en kept Darwin.
