Liverpool agree personal terms with Yan Diomande as RB Leipzig hold firm

Liverpool's pursuit of Yan Diomande has taken another significant step forward after reports in France claimed the Premier League champions have reached an agreement with the player's representatives.

The highly-rated RB Leipzig winger has emerged as one of Liverpool's priority attacking targets, with the club continuing to plan for the future despite Mohamed Salah remaining a key figure at Anfield.

According to Media Foot, both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain held discussions with Diomande's camp and managed to secure the player's approval. However, the French champions have now stepped away from the race, leaving Liverpool in a stronger position to pursue a deal.

The challenge now lies elsewhere.

PSG had been considered one of Liverpool's main competitors for the Ivory Coast international.

The report claims sporting advisor Luis Campos led talks with all parties involved and explored the possibility of bringing Diomande to Paris. However, negotiations reportedly stalled because of RB Leipzig's valuation.

The Bundesliga club's demands exceeded what PSG were prepared to pay, prompting the French side to cool their interest and effectively remove themselves from the contest.

That development gives Liverpool a clearer route towards the player.

Having already held extensive discussions with Diomande's representatives in recent months, the Reds are now believed to have the framework of a personal agreement in place.

While Liverpool may have made progress with the player, convincing RB Leipzig is a very different challenge.

Sky Deutschland journalist Philipp Hinze reports the German club have already rejected a Liverpool package worth €100 million and would only consider a sale for a significantly higher figure.

That stance underlines how highly Leipzig value one of their most prized assets.

The German side are not only protected by Diomande's long-term contract, which runs until 2030, but are also attempting to strengthen their negotiating position further through discussions over an improved deal.

For Liverpool, that means the transfer is far from advanced despite the apparent breakthrough on personal terms.

The situation now appears relatively straightforward.

Liverpool have reportedly secured the player's approval, PSG are no longer actively pursuing a deal, and Leipzig have clearly communicated their demands.

The question is whether Liverpool are prepared to increase their offer beyond the €100 million mark.
