Matthias Jaissle sends Lewis Hall transfer message to Manchester United

Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle has made it clear Lewis Hall remains central to his long-term plans despite Manchester United identifying the England international as their primary left-back target.

United considered Hall during the summer transfer window but never submitted an official bid for the 21-year-old, who remains under contract at St James’ Park until 2029.

Jaissle previously responded “no chance” when Manchester United interest was raised, and his position has not changed following the closure of the window.

Jaissle accepts that Newcastle may have to deal with further interest when the January transfer window opens.

“For sure he will have interest in the winter, like many other players,” the Newcastle boss said.

“Every window there will be interest for our players. We definitely count on him, he's a player of huge, huge potential.”

Hall has already established himself at Premier League level, but Jaissle believes there is significantly more development to come.

“He's delivering at a high level already but we all know there's much more to come,” he added.

“We're really excited that he is a part of the team, hopefully in the long term.”

With Hall tied down for several more seasons, Newcastle are under no immediate contractual pressure to consider a sale.

Newcastle underwent significant changes during the summer, losing Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier.

The arrivals of Amar Dedic, Nico González and £51m forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo have helped reshape Jaissle’s squad, with Fernandez-Pardo potentially making his debut against Bournemouth.

Newcastle will, however, remain without Dan Burn, Joelinton and Will Osula.

Jaissle refused to confirm reports from Denmark suggesting Osula could remain sidelined until after the international break, insisting he would not participate in speculation over the striker’s return date.

The Magpies have collected four points from their opening two Premier League fixtures, including an impressive victory away at Tottenham.

Jaissle wants Newcastle to maintain the same approach against Bournemouth despite the Cherries proving difficult opponents in recent meetings.

“It will be the same idea of how we want to play football,” he said. “We have a clear way, a clear identity.”

For Manchester United, Hall could remain one to watch in January. Newcastle’s message, however, is already emphatic: they are planning for the defender to remain at St James’ Park for the long term.

Manchester United could revisit their left-back search in January, potentially bringing Hall back onto their transfer agenda.

Newcastle have little intention of encouraging a deal, though. Jaissle sees Hall as an important part of the club’s future, meaning United would face a difficult negotiation if they decide to make their interest concrete.
