Leeds United defender Sebastiaan Bornauw has spoken positively about life at Hamburg SV after returning to the Bundesliga on loan.
The 27-year-old joined Hamburg in August following a difficult first season at Elland Road, where he struggled to establish himself under Daniel Farke.
The German club also hold a reported option to make his transfer permanent.
Bornauw enjoying life away from Leeds
Bornauw joined Leeds from Wolfsburg in 2025 but made only 17 appearances across all competitions during his first campaign.
He returned to Germany on a season-long loan and has since played 450 minutes across five appearances in all competitions, including four Bundesliga starts.
Speaking to Bild, the Belgian praised Hamburg as a place to live and said he feels comfortable at the club.
He also discussed the influence of former Bayern Munich and Hamburg defender Daniel van Buyten on his career.
Hamburg initially struggled this season but have recovered to record three consecutive Bundesliga victories.
Bornauw believes the team's improved results reflect the players' continued belief in their ability.
Hamburg hold permanent transfer option
Hamburg signed Bornauw on loan until the end of the 2026–27 season.
According to German reports, the agreement includes an option to purchase him for approximately €4.6million.
The clause gives Hamburg a potential route to retain the centre-back beyond next summer, although no decision has been announced.
