Torino step up Lucas Perri talks as Leeds United weigh loan proposal

Torino have stepped up their pursuit of Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri, with talks between the two clubs gathering pace as the Serie A side look to finalise a deal before the new season.

According to reports in Italy, the Brazilian remains Torino's preferred choice to strengthen between the posts and has already indicated he is keen to make the move. However, while personal terms are not expected to be an issue, Leeds are yet to give the green light as they continue assessing their own goalkeeping options.

The 28-year-old joined the Whites from Lyon and enjoyed an encouraging start to life at Elland Road before falling out of favour during the second half of last season, making just three Premier League appearances in 2026.

Italian outlet CuoreToro reports that Torino have intensified contacts with Leeds and are now proposing an initial loan deal that includes an option to buy.

The structure would allow the Italian club to evaluate Perri over the course of the season before committing to a permanent transfer, particularly after his lack of regular league football in recent months.

Leeds, meanwhile, are understood to value the goalkeeper at around €10 million, a figure that could prove difficult for Torino to meet in a straight cash deal.

The Premier League club are also believed to be waiting until there is greater clarity over their own goalkeeping department before approving any departure.

While Perri is reportedly eager to test himself in Serie A, Leeds are under little pressure to sanction an immediate sale.

The Brazilian still offers experienced cover and could remain an important squad option if the club are unable to secure a replacement before the transfer window closes. That gives Leeds a strong negotiating position, particularly if interest emerges from other clubs willing to match their valuation.

Perri's representatives could therefore play an important role in the coming weeks as they attempt to find common ground between the two clubs. With the player keen for regular football after a frustrating end to last season, a compromise on the structure of the deal may ultimately prove more important than the transfer fee itself.

Negotiations are expected to continue as Torino try to convince Leeds to accept their proposed loan structure.
