Former Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn has warned Julian Nagelsmann about the risks of becoming Manchester United manager amid growing uncertainty over Michael Carrick's future.

Nagelsmann, 39, has been linked with the Old Trafford position following United's 4–1 Champions League defeat to Como on Wednesday.

However, Kahn believes his former Bayern colleague must consider whether United would provide the right environment for his next managerial appointment.

Kahn questions Manchester United move

Speaking on Triple – der Hagedorn Fußballtalk on RTL/Sky Sport, Kahn highlighted United's recent managerial instability.

He questioned whether Nagelsmann should take such a significant risk after difficult departures from Bayern Munich and the Germany national team.

Kahn also pointed to the German coach's limited experience working outside his home country.

The former Bayern executive believes Nagelsmann has the ability to develop successful teams but urged him to consider his next career decision carefully.

United reportedly considering Nagelsmann

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United recruitment director Christopher Vivell favours Nagelsmann as a possible replacement for Carrick.

However, football director Jason Wilcox reportedly prefers a manager with Premier League experience.

Eddie Howe, Fabian Hürzeler, Unai Emery and Antonio Conte have also been linked with the position.

United have not confirmed an approach for Nagelsmann or announced plans to replace Carrick.

Carrick set for Bournemouth fixture

Sky Sports reports that Carrick will remain in charge for Sunday's Premier League match against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

United are without a victory in seven matches across all competitions, increasing pressure on the manager.

No decision has been confirmed regarding his position beyond the Bournemouth game.
