Bournemouth are set to complete the signing of Sevilla defender Juanlu Sánchez after agreeing a deal worth up to €13 million with the La Liga club.

The Premier League side have reached an agreement worth an initial €11 million (£9.5 million), with a further €2 million (£1.7 million) available through performance-related bonuses. According to reports in Spain, only the final formalities remain before the transfer is officially confirmed.

Juanlu is expected to become Bournemouth's latest summer signing as Marco Rose continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Juanlu set to leave Sevilla training camp

According to Diario de Sevilla, the 22-year-old will sign a four-year contract with Bournemouth once the remaining paperwork has been completed.

The defender is currently with Sevilla at their pre-season training camp in Garderen, the Netherlands, but is expected to leave the squad shortly to travel to England and finalise the move.

Although Juanlu was included on the bench for Sunday's friendly against FC Utrecht, the report states he was not expected to feature, meaning his final appearance for Sevilla likely came in last month's friendly against Juventud de Torremolinos.

Sevilla secure future financial protection

As part of the agreement, Sevilla have negotiated a sell-on clause that will entitle them to a percentage of any future transfer.

Spanish reports differ on the exact figure. EFE claims Sevilla will receive 20 per cent of any future sale, while MARCAreports the clause is closer to 10 per cent. Diario de Sevilla confirms only that a sell-on agreement has been included without specifying the percentage.

MARCA also reports that Juanlu will double his salary by joining Bournemouth.

Academy graduate sale benefits Sevilla

The transfer is also viewed as financially significant for Sevilla because Juanlu graduated from the club's academy.

As a homegrown player, the majority of the transfer fee will be recorded as profit under accounting regulations, providing an important financial boost.

Diario de Sevilla adds that the €2 million in potential bonuses are linked to relatively achievable objectives, making it likely Bournemouth will eventually pay close to the full value of the agreement if the Spaniard establishes himself in the Premier League.
