West Ham respond to AC Milan bid as Jean-Clair Todibo exit talks gather pace

West Ham United have responded to AC Milan's opening approach for Jean-Clair Todibo as speculation surrounding the defender's future continues to gather momentum.

The French centre-back has emerged as a target for several Serie A clubs following a difficult spell in east London, with AC Milan becoming the first side to make a formal move.

While Napoli have also shown interest, it is Milan who have taken negotiations a step further.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Vitale, AC Milan have submitted an initial offer for Todibo after identifying the former Barcelona defender as a priority target.

The details of Milan's proposal have not been disclosed, but West Ham have reportedly made their valuation clear.

The Hammers are seeking a package worth €29 million, consisting of a €5 million loan fee followed by a €24 million obligation to buy.

That structure would allow West Ham to secure a significant return while giving Milan greater flexibility in completing the transfer.

Todibo joined West Ham from Nice in 2024 but has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter.

Although he featured regularly during his first season, his playing time declined considerably last term under Nuno Espírito Santo.

The 26-year-old started only two of West Ham's final seven Premier League matches and was left out of the squad entirely for the closing fixture against Leeds United, further fuelling speculation over his future.

With competition for places increasing, an exit now appears a realistic possibility before the transfer window closes.

Napoli remain interested in signing Todibo but are yet to match Milan's level of commitment.

The Serie A side have held discussions with the defender's representatives but have not submitted an official proposal to West Ham.

Instead, Todibo remains one of several options under consideration, with Chelsea defender Benoît Badiashile also featuring on Napoli's shortlist.

As things stand, AC Milan appear to be leading the race, although further negotiations will be required before an agreement can be reached.
