Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United exit has taken a dramatic new turn, with Beşiktaş moving ahead of Roma in the race for his signature. According to reports in Turkey and Italy, the Super Lig club have struck an agreement with United, and talks are now focused on finalising Sancho’s wages.

Roma had previously pushed hard for a deal, with Gian Piero Gasperini personally speaking to the 25-year-old to convince him of a move to Serie A. United and Roma had even agreed on an initial loan with an option to buy for €25m. But Sancho delayed giving his approval — and Beşiktaş have swooped in to seize the opportunity.

For United, Sancho’s departure looks increasingly imminent. The winger has two years left on his contract, but after rediscovering some form on loan at Chelsea last season, a permanent Old Trafford comeback was never on the cards.

Why Beşiktaş Want Sancho

Beşiktaş have been rebuilding their squad under new leadership and view Sancho as a marquee signing to lead their attack. His creativity, one-on-one ability, and experience in the Premier League make him a box-office addition to the Turkish giants’ ambitions in both the Süper Lig and Europe.

Financial details are still being ironed out, particularly Sancho’s weekly wage, which remains higher than Beşiktaş’s standard salary structure. However, optimism is growing that a compromise can be reached.

For now, Sancho appears cautious. The report suggests he wants to explore alternative possibilities before confirming a move to Italy.

Jadon Sancho 2024/25 Season Stats (Chelsea, loan)

Stat (2024/25) Sancho
Appearances 42
Goals 5
Assists 10
Chances Created 54

Sancho featured 42 times for Chelsea across all competitions during his loan spell, scoring five goals and providing ten assists. While not prolific, his creativity shone through — with over 50 chances created — proving he can still be a difference-maker when given regular minutes.

Analyst Verdict

From reviewing his Chelsea season, Sancho’s sharpness in tight spaces and ability to create chances returned, but he still lacked ruthlessness in front of goal. For Beşiktaş, this is a risk worth taking: they gain a proven European winger still in his mid-20s who could be transformative in the Süper Lig.

United, meanwhile, will be satisfied simply to move him on and ease the wage bill. Roma’s hesitation gave Beşiktaş the window, and they look ready to pounce.

Key Insights

  • Beşiktaş reach agreement with Manchester United for Sancho.
  • Final discussions ongoing over player’s wages.
  • Roma had also agreed terms with United, but Sancho delayed.
  • Chelsea loan spell: 5 goals + 10 assists in 42 games.
  • United prepared to sanction exit with two years left on contract.

What’s Next

Talks between Beşiktaş and Sancho’s camp are expected to conclude in the coming days. If a wage compromise is struck, the winger will head to Istanbul to complete his medical and sign his contract.

For Roma, this represents a major setback. Gasperini had made Sancho a priority, but their inability to secure the player’s immediate approval has allowed Beşiktaş to steal in at the decisive moment.

Would Sancho thrive in Turkey with Beşiktaş — or should he have waited for Roma and Serie A?

I've seen him go to Chelsea, Juventus, Dortmund, Roma and now Besiktas, actually the last one make sense because Ole is at the wheel, but still doubts if they're able to pay his wages.
