Guglielmo Vicario is set to undergo a medical with Juventus after Tottenham Hotspur agreed to let the goalkeeper return to Serie A on an initial loan deal.

The 29-year-old has been linked with several Italian clubs throughout the summer, including Inter Milan and Napoli, but Juventus have now moved ahead of their rivals to secure his signature.

Multiple reports in Italy indicate the transfer is effectively complete, with Tottenham accepting a loan containing an option to buy for €10m.

Vicario travelling to Turin for Juventus medical

Italian journalist Giorgio Musso reports that Vicario will fly to Italy on Monday before undergoing his medical and signing his Juventus contract.

The Tottenham goalkeeper is expected to reach Turin during the afternoon before completing the final formalities of his move.

Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that Vicario will visit the Allianz Stadium after his arrival, where he is expected to meet supporters and his new teammates as Juventus conclude their pre-season preparations.

The goalkeeper's desire to return to Italy is said to have played an important role in accelerating the agreement.

Vicario had previously attracted interest from Inter, who reportedly agreed personal terms with him before that option disappeared. Napoli subsequently entered the picture, while Juventus also established contact as they assessed changes to their goalkeeping department.

Tottenham open door to Vicario departure

Juventus are preparing to part ways with Michele Di Gregorio following a difficult 2025/26 campaign, creating the opening for Vicario to return to Serie A.

Tottenham's willingness to accept an initial loan helped Juventus complete negotiations without committing immediately to a permanent transfer.

For Vicario, the move offers an opportunity to secure regular football and play in European competition after falling down the hierarchy at Spurs under Roberto De Zerbi.

The €10m purchase option also limits Juventus' risk, with the Italian club able to assess Vicario's performances before deciding whether to keep him permanently.
