Fulham are reportedly leading the race to sign highly-rated Deportivo La Coruña forward Yeremay Hernández, with the Premier League side prepared to table a £35m bid to secure his signature during the January transfer window.

Fulham push forward with January ambition

Momentum is building at Fulham. Marco Silva’s side have won their last three Premier League matches, climbing to 12th in the table and moving within four points of fifth-placed Chelsea, with a game in hand.

The Cottagers travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace tonight, knowing a fourth straight league win would further underline their growing European credentials.

Despite the upturn in results, Silva has been clear that January recruitment remains a priority.

“The last few results for us doesn’t change what we need to do in the window,” Silva explained.
“We all agree what we need. Nothing’s changed — we have full ambition this season.”

Fulham lead race for Yeremay Hernández

According to reports from Spain, Fulham are now at the front of the queue to sign Yeremay Hernández, beating competition from AFC Bournemouth.

The London club are understood to be willing to pay €40m (£35m) for the 22-year-old, a figure that could persuade Deportivo La Coruña to sanction a sale this month. Fulham believe the winger’s profile and playing style are ideally suited to the Premier League.

Why Yeremay fits Silva’s project

Yeremay has been one of La Liga’s standout wide players this season, producing seven goals and five assists in 19 league appearances. His end product, combined with his ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, has made him one of the most sought-after attackers in Spain.

Scout Ben Mattinson has been particularly impressed with the Spaniard’s skillset: “Yeremay is a skilful player in 1v1s. Sharp turns to keep the ball close to his body. He’s happy to drive onto either foot to shoot.”

Those attributes align closely with Silva’s attacking philosophy, which relies heavily on dynamic wide players capable of creating chances in transition.

Traoré exit increases urgency

Fulham’s interest in reinforcing their wide options has been heightened by the expected departure of Adama Traoré, who is set to join West Ham United.

With Traoré’s pace and directness leaving a void, Yeremay is viewed internally as a long-term upgrade rather than a short-term fix — a player who could grow with the squad as Fulham push higher up the table.

Big decision looming

A £35m outlay would represent a significant statement of intent from Fulham, underlining their ambition to move from mid-table stability to genuine European contention. Whether Deportivo are willing to part with their star man mid-season remains to be seen, but Fulham’s willingness to meet their valuation puts them firmly in control of the race.

What’s next?

With the transfer window now open, negotiations could accelerate quickly. If Fulham follow through with a formal bid, Yeremay Hernández could become one of the headline Premier League arrivals of January.

Would Yeremay Hernández be the signing that takes Fulham into Europe — or is £35m too big a gamble?
