Arsenal’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze has taken a major turn, with the Crystal Palace star now pushing for the move — and the deal reportedly able to be completed “in the next hour”.
The Gunners have been tracking the England international for several weeks and now appear ready to trigger his £60m release clause, according to reports.
Arteta sees Eze as a perfect addition to his midfield, and with the player “desperate” to join Arsenal, the only remaining hurdle is financial.
Arsenal Looking to Lower £60m Price Tag
While Eze’s clause is known — £60m payable in three instalments, potentially rising to £68m with add-ons — Arsenal, led by sporting director Andrea Berta, are working to bring the fee down.
They’ve already explored offering fringe players to sweeten the deal, and Crystal Palace are reportedly open to the idea.
“Palace are keen to discover if they could land an Arsenal player on the back of negotiations.”

Although not a direct swap, any outgoings from the Emirates may help bring Eze’s final fee into a more manageable bracket.
Palace Interested in Arsenal Fringe Star
Palace know they may lose their midfield talisman and are now eyeing potential Arsenal castoffs in return. While names haven't yet been confirmed, the logic is simple: Eze wants the move, and Arsenal have a deep squad — making fringe players available on favourable terms.
This opens the door for two parallel deals that could benefit both clubs. Arsenal gain an elite ball-carrier in midfield, while Palace refresh their squad with proven Premier League talent.
Why Arsenal Want Eze
Eze is the profile Arsenal have lacked — an explosive, creative midfielder who can play centrally or wide. His ability to drive through lines, beat defenders and create chances on the move aligns with Arteta’s vision for a more dynamic midfield.
After 23 G/A contributions last season, and a strong Euro 2024 showing with England, his value is clear.

Analyst Verdict
Eze offers instant impact and long-term upside. At 26, he’s entering his prime, and his style perfectly suits Arteta’s evolving 4-3-3. With Martin Ødegaard and Eze in tandem, Arsenal would boast one of the most technically gifted midfields in the league.

Eze had a fantastic season at Palace and what he did was unbelievable - I think he would be a very good fit for Arsenal. Just wondering how Arsenal will play if they get him.
