Erling Haaland's father, Alf-Inge Haaland, has addressed speculation over the Manchester City striker's future as the club appeals a ruling against it over breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

The Norwegian forward has scored nine goals in his opening nine league appearances this season, but uncertainty surrounding potential sanctions has raised questions about the futures of City's leading players.

Haaland's father urges patience over City appeal

Speaking to Viaplay Fotball, Alf-Inge Haaland was asked whether his son could leave Manchester City if the club faced serious sporting sanctions.

"I think we should await the appeal process," he explained.

He emphasised that City continue to dispute the independent commission's findings and believe they can overturn the ruling.

"City believe they have strong evidence to stand up and prove their innocence, so I think we wait until that decision is reached."

Asked how the uncertainty was affecting Erling, his father insisted the striker remained focused on football.

"Erling thinks about playing as much football as he can and concentrates on that."

He suggested those outside the dressing room were more concerned about the possible consequences than the players themselves.

Manchester City await outcome of appeal

An independent commission found City guilty of 114 of 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations in September.

The findings concerned financial arrangements and reporting obligations dating back to 2009.

City deny wrongdoing and formally appealed the decision on 1 October.

Potential sanctions, including points deductions and relegation, have been discussed, although no final punishment has been announced.

The uncertainty has prompted speculation about whether established players might reconsider their futures if severe penalties are imposed.

However, there is no confirmation that Haaland has asked to leave.

Haaland remains central to City's plans

Arsenal and Real Madrid have been linked with the Norwegian, although neither club has announced a move.

Haaland remains a key player under Enzo Maresca despite failing to score in Saturday's 1-0 Premier League defeat against Brighton.

That setback allowed Arsenal to strengthen their position in the title race.
