Leeds United close to agreeing new Daniel Farke contract

Leeds United are reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Daniel Farke, with only minor details left to resolve before an announcement can be made.

Farke’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but Leeds’ owners, 49ers Enterprises, are keen to extend his stay after the progress made under the German.

The 49-year-old also played an important role in the club’s summer recruitment, with all seven new signings reportedly joining in the knowledge that Leeds planned to keep Farke beyond his existing contract.

“My only concentration is starting as well as possible in this first year and also in this first week, and also to make sure that we have the strongest possible squad once the transfer window is shut,” Farke explained.

“This is my only topic, and not to speak about my contract.”

Farke also stressed that his ambitions at Elland Road go beyond his own contract situation.

“I’m not here just for myself. I’m just a little piece in the history of this club,” he said.

“Once I leave one day, then I want everyone to say, okay, he has done a solid job and left the club in a better position than before.”

With the transfer window now closed and an international break providing an opportunity to conclude negotiations, Leeds could soon formally secure their manager's future.
