Chukwuemeka Dortmund loan 2025 is close to completion. The midfielder is set to spend another season at Borussia Dortmund after a solid first spell — while Chelsea wrap up their deal for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
Talks between both clubs have progressed well, with a new agreement expected to be confirmed this week.
Gittens In, Chukwuemeka Stays on Loan
Chelsea signed Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Dortmund earlier this week. That move may have helped unlock the return of Carney Chukwuemeka to the Bundesliga on loan.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Dortmund in January and made 16 appearances in all competitions. Most came from the bench, but he showed flashes of the talent that made Chelsea pay £20m for him back in 2022.
No Buy Option Yet — Just a Loan
Dortmund had the chance to buy Chukwuemeka for £40m. But they passed on that option last month. Instead, they’re now closing in on a straight season-long loan with no permanent clause.
“Carney has grown in our system. A second season could help him shine,” said a source close to Dortmund’s staff.

Analyst Verdict
This is smart business for both sides. Dortmund get a promising midfielder for another year. Chelsea protect the value of a young player who isn't in Enzo Maresca’s plans right now. If Chukwuemeka impresses again, his price will rise — or he could earn a second chance in London.
