Inter Milan are weighing up a move for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, with Bayern Munich also monitoring developments.
Inter Milan have joined the race for Christopher Nkunku as they search for additional attacking firepower this summer. Despite scoring 15 goals across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, the French forward does not appear to be in Enzo Maresca’s long-term plans at Chelsea.
Inter’s priority remains Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, but Nkunku has emerged as a viable alternative should negotiations stall. Sources in Italy suggest that while no formal bid has been made, Inter’s recruitment team are keeping a close eye on the player’s situation in West London.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are also understood to have an interest, adding further competition for the 27-year-old’s signature.

Analyst Verdict
Nkunku’s case is fascinating because his raw talent is undisputed — intelligent movement, quick interchanges, and a knack for arriving in scoring positions. But his lack of consistent starts under Maresca tells the real story: Chelsea want a forward line built for fluid pressing and positional interchange, and Nkunku’s injury interruptions plus adaptation issues have stalled his momentum.
For Inter, his profile fits Simone Inzaghi’s system — second striker or wide forward drifting into central pockets — and could be a coup if they negotiate the right price. Bayern, meanwhile, would see him as depth, especially in a season where squad rotation is key.
Key Insights
- Inter Milan’s shortlist: Ademola Lookman (priority), Nkunku (alternative).
- Bayern Munich also in the race — could push price upward.
- Nkunku still has 15 goals in all competitions last season, despite reduced PL minutes.
- Current wage: £195,000/week — a key factor in negotiations.
- Chelsea willing to listen to offers, but won’t sell cheaply given contract length.
What’s Next
With Inter focused on Lookman, Nkunku’s fate could hinge on how quickly Atalanta are willing to sell. If that deal drags on, Inter may pivot and move for the Chelsea forward before the window closes.
Bayern remain a wildcard — they have the funds to move quickly if they decide Nkunku fits Thomas Tuchel’s attacking rotation. Chelsea, for their part, are in no rush but are expected to sanction a sale if the fee meets their valuation and the wage bill can be reduced.
Should Nkunku choose a starring role at Inter, or compete for silverware with Bayern?

Inter or Bayern just leave my club will ya. Those wages are insane for a lazy player as Nkunku. He hasn't showed anything he was at Leipzig..
