Manchester United intend to reject any offer for Bruno Fernandes before the transfer deadline, with the club making it clear their captain is not for sale despite interest from Galatasaray, Juventus and AC Milan.
According to BBC Sport, Galatasaray have been considering an approach that could eventually be worth €50m (£42.7m).
United's response is emphatic. Senior sources at Old Trafford have indicated that the Turkish champions would be wasting their time by submitting the proposal.
Manchester United refuse to consider Fernandes sale
No formal bids have yet arrived for Fernandes, but United's position is that the 31-year-old will not be sold at any price during the remainder of the window.
That represents a notable change from last summer.
When Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal made a lucrative approach, United allowed Fernandes to decide whether he wanted to accept the opportunity. The Portugal international subsequently admitted he felt “hurt” by the club's stance.
This time, United are determined to remove any uncertainty over his immediate future.
Fernandes would also prefer to remain at Old Trafford, although his longer-term contractual situation is yet to be resolved.
His existing deal has one year remaining, with United holding an option to extend it for another season. There has so far been no agreement over a new contract.
A £57m release clause in his deal has now expired, strengthening United's control over any potential negotiations.
Fernandes remains central to United plans
United's position also reflects Fernandes' importance on the pitch.
The midfielder registered a Premier League-record 21 assists last season and is among the leading candidates to be named the 2025/26 PFA Player of the Year.
Supporters also made their feelings clear during United's recent pre-season meeting with Leeds in Dublin, where Fernandes received an enthusiastic reception.
With the captain keen to stay and United unwilling to entertain offers, Galatasaray, Juventus and Milan face a significant obstacle if they attempt to pursue him.
