Fiorentina monitoring Crystal Palace winger Brennan Johnson after difficult start

Fiorentina have added Crystal Palace winger Brennan Johnson to their shortlist as the Serie A club continues searching for attacking reinforcements this summer.

According to La Viola, the Italian side have a tentative interest in the Wales international, with sporting director Fabio Paratici keen to reunite with a player he knows well from their time together at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, no formal talks have yet taken place between Fiorentina and Crystal Palace.

Fiorentina recently strengthened their squad by securing Franco Mastantuono on loan from Real Madrid, but the club is expected to remain active in the transfer market before the deadline.

Johnson has emerged as a potential target, with Paratici reportedly viewing the winger as an attractive option thanks to his Premier League experience and versatility.

The report also notes that Fiorentina can still register a player arriving from the United Kingdom under Serie A's squad regulations, despite already filling their two non-EU places.

Crystal Palace signed Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur for £35 million in January and are not believed to be considering a quick sale.

The 25-year-old endured a difficult start to life at Selhurst Park, making 18 Premier League appearances, including 13 starts, and registering one assist without scoring.

Despite those modest numbers, Palace are expected to remain patient, believing the winger deserves a full pre-season before being judged on his long-term impact.

Any move would also be financially challenging for Fiorentina, with Palace likely to demand a fee close to what they paid only six months ago.
