Liverpool have resumed negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola, with the player's entourage reportedly confident that the France international will complete a move to Anfield before the transfer deadline.

The Reds have pursued Barcola throughout the summer and already have an agreement in place with the 23-year-old over personal terms.

The final — and considerably more expensive — hurdle is reaching an agreement with PSG.

Liverpool already had €115m Barcola bid rejected

According to Tuesday's edition of L'Equipe, Liverpool have already submitted a huge €115million (£99m) offer for Barcola.

PSG rejected that proposal.

Talks then went relatively quiet, but Liverpool have now returned to the negotiating table and discussions with the Champions League winners have restarted.

L'Equipe reports there has been “minor progress”, although Liverpool have not yet submitted another formal bid.

Instead, the Reds are waiting to establish exactly what figure PSG would accept.

PSG want record-breaking transfer fee

PSG's demands remain enormous.

Manchester City are closing in on Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi for around €100m, which would make him the most expensive Ligue 1 player ever sold to a foreign club.

PSG reportedly want Barcola's transfer to surpass that record.

Considering Liverpool's €115m proposal has already been rejected, any successful package would therefore have to exceed that figure.

That could make Barcola one of the most expensive signings in Premier League history.

Barcola camp confident Liverpool move will happen

Despite the financial gap, confidence around Barcola remains high.

The player's entourage reportedly believes he will be a Liverpool player before next Tuesday's deadline.

That is significant because personal terms are already understood to be agreed, meaning Barcola's desire to move to Anfield should not present an obstacle.

Liverpool are continuing discussions with PSG and are expected to formalise their next offer once they believe the numbers are acceptable to the French champions.

Key Points

  • Liverpool have resumed negotiations with PSG for Bradley Barcola.
  • The Reds already have an agreement over personal terms with the 23-year-old.
  • PSG rejected Liverpool's previous €115m offer.
  • Liverpool have not yet submitted their improved bid.
  • PSG want Barcola to become a record Ligue 1 sale to a foreign club.
  • Barcola's entourage is confident the transfer to Liverpool will happen before the deadline.

What’s Next?

The decisive stage is now approaching.

Liverpool appear willing to return with another enormous offer, but they are waiting until negotiations establish a figure PSG are prepared to accept. With the French club demanding more than €115m, the Reds may have to break the Ligue 1 export record to get their priority attacking target.

Personal terms are already in place and Barcola's camp remains confident, leaving the agreement between Liverpool and PSG as the final major obstacle.

Should Liverpool go beyond €115m to get Bradley Barcola, or is that simply too much for the 23-year-old?
