Tottenham confirm £85m Savinho signing as Man City winger reveals De Zerbi influence

Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth £75million plus a further £10m in add-ons.

The Brazilian winger becomes another major addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s ambitious rebuild in north London, with Spurs potentially committing £85m to the transfer.

And Tottenham are not finished yet. A separate deal is being lined up for Savinho’s former Manchester City teammate Omar Marmoush.

After lengthy negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City, Savinho's transfer is finally complete.

The 22-year-old arrives for an initial £75m, with another £10m available through add-ons.

Savinho made clear after completing the move that De Zerbi played a major role in convincing him to join Spurs.

“It's taken a while but I'm very happy to be here,” Savinho said.

“As soon as I spoke to the Head Coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level.”

The winger also described Tottenham as a “brilliant club” and De Zerbi as one of the world's best managers.

De Zerbi believes Tottenham have added a winger capable of providing exactly the creativity and unpredictability his attack requires.

“Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” the Spurs boss said.

“He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”

The Italian also stressed that Tottenham want to continue developing Savinho rather than simply viewing him as the finished product.

His arrival gives De Zerbi another explosive one-v-one attacker as Spurs attempt to quickly recover from their disastrous 3-0 opening-day defeat at Brentford.

Tottenham's business with Manchester City is unlikely to end with Savinho.

Spurs are also expected to sign Omar Marmoush on loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent for £50mincluded in the proposed agreement.

That would give De Zerbi another versatile attacking option capable of operating centrally or across the forward line.

Savinho is now officially through the door, while Marmoush could become the next major piece of Tottenham's attacking rebuild.

Attention now turns to Marmoush as Tottenham attempt to complete another deal with Manchester City.

Savinho's arrival gives De Zerbi the elite wide attacker he wanted, but Spurs' heavy opening-day defeat showed why the pressure will be on their expensive new-look squad to gel quickly.

If Marmoush follows, Tottenham will have added two major attacking weapons in the final stretch of the window — and expectations around De Zerbi's rebuild will rise even further.
