Newcastle United in contact with Benjamin Šeško – €80m fee needed for Leipzig star

Newcastle United have opened talks with the representatives of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, according to journalist Philipp Hinze, as the Premier League club searches for a top-tier centre-forward before the new season begins.

After missing out on Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool, Newcastle have turned their attention to the 21-year-old Slovenia international — but will need to pay big to get him.

RB Leipzig are demanding €80 million for Šeško, and that figure could rise slightly due to add-ons. No formal offer has been submitted at this stage, but Leipzig have been informed of Newcastle’s approach and are monitoring the situation.

The Magpies are currently holding informal discussions with Šeško’s agents, exploring the structure of a potential deal. Leipzig, however, remain relaxed and have no intention of negotiating below their asking price.

The Bundesliga club are in a strong position, with Šeško tied down to a long-term contract and a previous release clause having expired earlier this summer. Any club interested must now negotiate directly.
