Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has ruled out a January move for Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz despite praising the Germany international's ability.
Wirtz has faced criticism over his performances since completing a €125million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen in June 2025.
Recent reports in Germany have suggested the 23-year-old could consider leaving Anfield, with Bayern mentioned as a potential destination.
However, Hainer has made it clear that the Bundesliga champions are not planning a move.
Bayern president responds to Wirtz transfer rumours
Speaking at an event on Friday, Hainer acknowledged Wirtz's struggles to reproduce his best form in England.
"First of all, I think Florian Wirtz is an outstanding player, there's absolutely no question about that," Hainer said, as quoted by Bild.
"I almost feel a little sorry for him that he hasn't yet reached the same form in England that he had at Leverkusen, because we also need him for the German national team."
Asked whether Bayern could attempt to sign the Liverpool midfielder, Hainer dismissed the possibility.
"We have such a top-class squad, we're incredibly happy at the moment, and therefore it's not an issue for us," he explained.
His comments effectively rule out a January approach, despite Bayern having previously shown interest in the player.
Liverpool midfielder under pressure after €125m move
Wirtz established himself as one of Europe's most exciting attacking midfielders during his time at Leverkusen.
He recorded 57 goals and 65 assists in 197 appearances, including 16 goals and 15 assists during the 2024-25 campaign.
Liverpool won the race for his signature, but his first season at Anfield produced seven goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
The German has also endured a difficult start to the current campaign, registering two assists without scoring in eight appearances.
A previous Sport Bild report suggested Wirtz was unhappy with alleged internal tensions at Liverpool, raising questions about his future.
However, there is no indication that Liverpool are actively looking to sell him.
The midfielder remains under contract until 2030, leaving the Reds in a strong position regarding his future.
