Barcelona are reportedly closing in on the sale of Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for around €50m, with the structure of the deal allowing the Catalan club to avoid potentially paying another €18m to Manchester City.
The Spain international is approaching the final year of his Barcelona contract and, despite scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances last season, the La Liga champions have decided against handing him a new deal.
According to The Athletic, Barcelona and PSG have now agreed a transfer worth approximately €50m without additional bonuses.
Barcelona avoid €18m Man City bill
The details of Ferran's original move from Manchester City are particularly important.
Barcelona signed him from City in January 2022 for €55m plus €10m in potential add-ons, with further conditions reportedly included in the agreement.
One would require Barcelona to pay Manchester City another €8m if Ferran extended his contract at the Camp Nou.
With his current deal expiring next year, Barcelona have instead decided against a renewal. That means the €8m payment will not be triggered.
There is another significant clause involved.
Manchester City would reportedly receive a €10m payment if Barcelona sold Ferran for €55m or more.
The agreement with PSG is worth around €50m, keeping the transfer below that threshold and therefore avoiding the additional payment.

Ferran set for Luis Enrique reunion
The transfer will also reunite Ferran with former Spain manager Luis Enrique in Paris.
The 26-year-old heads towards the move after a memorable summer in which he scored the decisive goal in extra time as Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup final.
Despite that success and his productive campaign at club level, Barcelona have chosen to cash in rather than risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires.
Ferran has made 207 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 63 goals and providing 23 assists.
