Manchester City lead race for Ayyoub Bouaddi after Elliot Anderson breakthrough

Manchester City have reportedly moved into pole position to sign Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as the Premier League giants continue shaping their squad ahead of the new season.

Having already made significant progress in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, City's attention has now turned towards one of European football's brightest young talents.

Reports from Spain suggest the Etihad club are now leading the race for Bouaddi, although competition for the Lille teenager remains fierce.

According to ESPN Deportes journalist Rodra, Manchester City are currently the club best placed to secure the 18-year-old's signature.

The report comes after journalist Matteo Moretto, writing for Marca, claimed City are "very interested" in Bouaddi and have already made direct contact with Lille to establish the conditions required for a transfer.

No agreement has yet been reached, and there has been no indication regarding the player's preferred destination.

However, City's growing interest underlines how highly Bouaddi is regarded across Europe after another impressive campaign in Ligue 1.
