Arsenal midfielder Martín Zubimendi is attracting increasing attention from Spanish journalists, who believe Real Madrid should explore a potential transfer following his limited playing time under Mikel Arteta.
Despite the growing speculation, there is currently no evidence that Madrid have opened negotiations or are preparing a formal offer.
Spanish journalists question Arteta's treatment of Zubimendi
Zubimendi's lack of regular opportunities at Arsenal has sparked debate in Spain, particularly after Arteta deployed him at full-back rather than in his preferred midfield position.
Cadena SER journalist Javier Herráez recently suggested Real Madrid could consider the Spaniard because of concerns over their own midfield performances.
“I wouldn’t close any door on Martín Zubimendi, because Real Madrid aren’t doing well right now,” Herráez said.
However, he acknowledged that an immediate approach appeared unlikely.
Journalist Miguel Serrano also identified Zubimendi as a potential Madrid target but stressed that interest did not necessarily mean a transfer would happen.
Real Madrid urged to ask Arsenal about transfer price
Cadena SER presenter Dani Garrido has now added to the speculation, questioning why Zubimendi is receiving so few opportunities in north London.
Garrido argued that Madrid should investigate the midfielder's availability, particularly given his limited involvement under Arteta.
“If I were Madrid, I’d ask the price,” he said.
His comments follow those of Tomás Roncero, who recently expressed frustration over Arsenal's treatment of both Zubimendi and fellow Spain international Mikel Merino.
Roncero jokingly suggested Real Madrid should request both players on loan.
For now, the discussion remains media speculation rather than evidence of an active transfer pursuit.
Nevertheless, Zubimendi's playing-time situation could continue attracting attention if his role at Arsenal does not change.
