Eintracht Frankfurt monitoring Arnaud Kalimuendo after difficult Nottingham Forest start

Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly keeping a close eye on Arnaud Kalimuendo after the striker was denied a return to Germany during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old impressed on loan at Frankfurt last season, prompting the Bundesliga club to explore a permanent deal. However, Nottingham Forest resisted their approaches while Oliver Glasner wanted the opportunity to assess the striker himself.

That decision has not translated into significant playing time, with Kalimuendo managing just 61 minutes across two appearances in all competitions this season.

According to SGE4Ever, Frankfurt sporting chief Markus Krösche remains aware of Kalimuendo's situation after pushing hard to sign him during the summer.

The striker had been looking for regular football and an opportunity to take the next step in his career, but his limited role under Glasner means neither has materialised so far.

That could potentially reopen the door when the January transfer window arrives.

There is, however, one major difference compared to the summer.

Frankfurt's current forwards Jonathan Burkardt and Younes Ebnoutalib have performed well, reducing the immediate need for another striker.

Krösche would therefore have to determine whether bringing Kalimuendo back remains necessary despite his previous success at the club.

Kalimuendo's familiarity with Frankfurt would make any potential return relatively straightforward.

He already understands the Bundesliga, knows the club and would require considerably less adaptation than a completely new signing.

His lack of minutes at Forest could also alter negotiations. Frankfurt struggled to meet the Premier League club's demands during the summer, but the circumstances may look different by January if Kalimuendo remains outside Glasner's plans.

Another loan containing either an option or obligation to buy has consequently emerged as a possible solution.

No January agreement is currently in place, but Frankfurt's continued interest means Kalimuendo's playing time at Forest over the coming months could prove decisive.

Kalimuendo now has the period after the international break to fight for a more prominent role under Glasner.

If his playing time remains limited, Frankfurt could revisit the situation in January, although their own attacking form will influence whether they decide another move is necessary.
