Bournemouth manager Marco Rose has confirmed that Alex Scott will miss approximately four to five weeks after suffering a thigh injury while representing England.
The 23-year-old midfielder sustained the problem during the international break, shortly after making his first senior start for Thomas Tuchel's side.
Scott will now miss Bournemouth's Premier League trip to Chelsea this weekend, with Rose describing his absence as a significant setback.
Marco Rose frustrated by Alex Scott injury
Speaking ahead of Saturday's fixture, Rose revealed that Scott requires further medical examinations before Bournemouth can establish the full extent of the injury.
“It's an injury from a muscle, and we'll do pictures [scans] in some days again,” the German manager explained.
“But we're going to miss him, for sure, for four or five weeks. I'm very disappointed and it's a big loss.”
Initial concerns suggested Scott could be sidelined for two months, but Rose's latest assessment offers a more encouraging recovery timeline.
Despite his frustration, the Bournemouth boss refused to criticise England's medical staff.
“We miss a very important player, but I don't want to blame anyone.”
England debut overshadowed by injury concerns
Scott impressed during England's 7-0 Nations League victory over Croatia, starting alongside Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
However, reports suggest he played despite experiencing discomfort in his thigh.
That has reportedly frustrated Bournemouth, who were hoping to build on their encouraging start under Rose.
The manager nevertheless expressed pride in Scott's international achievement.
“We are very happy that he made his debut for the English national team. He did well and we just hope that he is getting fit again quite soon.”
Chelsea interest adds context to Bournemouth setback
Scott's importance to Bournemouth was highlighted during the summer transfer window when Chelsea reportedly attempted to sign him.
Bournemouth rejected a £64million offer from the London club earlier this year.
The midfielder's absence now leaves Rose without a key player as Bournemouth prepare to face the same opposition at Stamford Bridge.
