Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović has confirmed he rejected interest from Manchester City despite reports that the Premier League club were prepared to spend €100million on his signature.
The 22-year-old Germany international insists his future belongs at Bayern, where he has developed from an academy prospect into an important first-team player under Vincent Kompany.
Manchester City failed with €100m Pavlović pursuit
Manchester City reportedly targeted Pavlović during the summer as part of an extensive midfield rebuild under Enzo Maresca.
Following the departures of Rodri, Nico González and Tijjani Reijnders, City invested in Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Enzo Fernández.
However, German newspaper Bild reports that City were also prepared to offer €100million for Pavlović.
The midfielder acknowledged the interest but explained that leaving his boyhood club was never a serious consideration.
“First of all, it’s an honour when a top club like City approaches you,” Pavlović said.
“I grew up in Munich. I’ve been a fixture here, and I’ve always played for Bayern. My family and friends live here; there’s nothing better for me. That’s why the decision wasn’t difficult.”
Bayern Munich midfielder sets ambitious targets
Pavlović joined Bayern's academy in 2011 and progressed into the senior squad in 2023.
He has since made 107 first-team appearances, including 44 last season, establishing himself as a regular under Kompany.
The midfielder also welcomed comparisons with former Manchester City star Rodri, who won the Ballon d'Or.
Pavlović described those comparisons as motivation to continue developing into one of the world's leading defensive midfielders.
His immediate ambitions remain firmly focused on Bayern Munich rather than a potential Premier League move.
“We want to win everything: the Champions League, the DFB-Pokal, and the German championship,” he said.
With Pavlović committed to staying and City having already strengthened their midfield, a renewed pursuit currently appears unlikely.
