Aston Villa are reportedly in negotiations with Parma over goalkeeper Zion Suzuki after his proposed £29million move to Paris Saint-Germain collapsed.

The Premier League club's interest comes with fresh uncertainty surrounding Emi Martinez, who is again attracting attention from Juventus.

PSG had reached an agreement worth approximately £29m with Parma for Suzuki before the transfer unexpectedly fell through on Saturday.

PSG had appeared set to sign the Japan international, but the European champions withdrew following a change to the commissions surrounding the proposed deal.

That has opened the door for Villa, who are now negotiating with Parma over potentially bringing the goalkeeper to the Premier League.

Suzuki has been with the Serie A club since July 2024 and has developed into one of Europe's highly rated young goalkeepers.

His performances have also increased his profile internationally, making his availability particularly interesting for Villa given the renewed speculation surrounding Martinez.

Juventus revive Emi Martinez interest

Martinez had informed Villa before the World Cup that he wanted to join Juventus.

Villa nevertheless publicly insisted last month that the Argentina international would remain at the club.

Director of football Damian Vidagany described Martinez as an important part of their plans and dismissed reports of a Juventus departure as not reflecting Villa's position.

The 33-year-old remains under contract until 2029, having signed a five-year agreement in 2024.

He has made more than 250 appearances since arriving at Villa Park in 2020 and has been a central figure during the club's recent success.

Villa's pursuit of Suzuki now provides another development to monitor as Juventus renew their interest in Martinez.

The club have already experienced considerable squad turnover this summer, with Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne among those to depart.
